Estimation of Stored and Discharge Mass from a Storage Vessel
|
Description: |
|
The tool is designed for the estimation of mass of gas (pure or mixture) in a pressurized storage vessel and the useful mass that can be extracted knowing the vessle volume and the gas storage pressure, temperature and the lowest pressure at which gas can be extracted (theoretically equals the prevailing atmospheric pressure). Estimation can be carried out for either a pure specie or mixture of species from among the 53 species currently covered. The supported species are;

Features / How to use: |
|
- Enter the mole fraction of the gases in %. For convenience, the species are segregated as major and minor species and together the mole fraction should sum to 100%. If a single specie needs to be analyzed, enter 100% against the specif of interest.
- The sum of mole fraction entered can be verified using the "Verify Summation" button.
- If required the "Normalize" button may be used to normalize the entered values if the mole fraction does not add to 100%. This option should be used with caution.
- As a test case, the standard air composition can be loaded using the "Reset to Air Composition" option.
- Once the mole fraction for the mixture species is entered and verified, enter the storage vessel volume, pressure and temperature (temperature should be between 300K and 3500K).
- The downstream utility pressure / atmosphere pressure prevents complete discharge / emptying of the cylinder. The lowest working pressure designated as the useable gas extraction pressure should also be indicated in bars.
- Click the "Evaluate" button to estimate the maximum stored mass of gas and the maximum useable mass of gas.

Extension: |
|
Extension of the specie database is possible. If any additional species are required to be introduced as a mixture component, please send a mail with the request to architect@thermofluidscitech.com and I will be glad to introduce the specie after due review.
